ABOUT ME

IMPORTANT NOTES

Reading is political. I make an effort to embrace the diversity of the human experience in my reading. I will also not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia, zionism, or any other hateful ideologies. This may influence my enjoyment of a book sometimes, because I believe in thinking critically about the works we consume. At the end of the day, I am simply a person trying their best. But this is not a place where we blindly support authors who do bad things or "brain off" books.

I also do not, under any circumstances, support the use of Generative AI. I will never intentionally use it or platform works that use it. You can read more about my stance on AI here.

Hi!

My name is Kendall, I'm 24 years old, I'm a little obsessed with the color purple, and I’ve been a book nerd for my entire life.

I have memories from when I was just a kid in first grade of being one of only a few kids allowed to read Chapter Books, and read Chapter Books I did. I didn’t play around with my Magic Tree House books; I think I managed to read and own (gifted — I was not bankrupting my parents) all of them by the time I moved on. When I was a bit older, I remember it being a really big deal that I was allowed to read Order of the Phoenix by myself. Don't worry, nowadays my taste in books is a little bit less TERF-y. Soon after this, I was a teenager in the midst of the 2010s Dystopian Craze, which meant I was inhaling books like the Hunger Games and Maze Runner. Throw in some Percy Jackson for genre diversity, and you've got yourself a teen reader.

Nowadays, my tastes have definitely shifted a bit. Don't get me wrong: I still love Percy Jackson and the Hunger Games. But I've also recently developed an obsession with Hamlet, and I tend to gravitate more towards literary fiction and mysteries/thrillers.

I’m not sure what stuck with me the most, but I ended up liking books so much that I went off and got a degree in them. I graduated from the University of North Texas in December 2022 with a English Literature degree, and I still spend most of my time reading. I try to read anything and everything that I can get my hands on, and there’s been very few books I’ve truly hated.

More than anything else, I love stories and the ways that humans have found to communicate with one another. I believe there’s a perfect book out there for everyone, and I’m determined to help people find whatever that book is for them. Hopefully browsing through my catalog of thoughts will help inspire you somehow.
